Game Snapshot
Réti Opening
Master Lens
White (GHANDEEVAM2003) turned a quiet Réti opening into a winning attack by exchanging a pawn for rapid piece activity, then coordinated the queen, rooks and bishop pair to expose Black's king. The game ends with Black resigning after White wins material and keeps the initiative, showing how active development and king safety can decide a battle.
What The GM Did Well By Phase
Opening
White began with **1.Nf3** and quickly challenged Black's central pawn with **2.c4**, keeping the tension in the center. By playing **4.b4** and later **5.fxe3**, White gave up a pawn but opened the b‑file for the rook and accelerated development of the knights and bishop. Castling with **12.O-O** and moving the rook to **13.Rb1** placed the rook on the half‑open b‑file, a classic way to pressure Black's queenside while the king found safety.
Middlegame
After Black's king was castled, White used the bishop pair to create threats. The exchange sacrifice on **24...Rxe3** was met by **25.Bxe3**, keeping the bishop active and opening the e‑file for the rooks. White's queen moved to **14.Qc2** and later to the aggressive **21...Qh4**, forcing Black's pieces onto defensive squares. The coordinated attack with **22.Rf1**, **23.Nf3**, and the final queen infiltration **26...Qh2+** forced Black's king into the corner, allowing White to win material with **27.Nxh2** and finish the game.
