Master Lens
In this Four Knights Game, Black (GM javokhir_sindarov05) achieved a solid opening with early king safety but missed a critical pawn break in the midgame, allowing White to seize the initiative and win. The game ends with a loss for Black after White’s rooks dominated the seventh rank and forced resignation.
What The GM Did Well By Phase
Opening
Black developed both knights to natural squares (**2...Nc6**, **3...Nf6**) and quickly castled (**9...O-O**), which placed the king safely and connected the rooks. Moving the bishop from c5 to a7 (**11...Ba7**) kept the bishop active on the long diagonal, illustrating the principle of early piece coordination and king safety.
Middlegame
Black centralized the dark‑squared bishop to **13...Be6**, targeting the center and supporting the upcoming pawn break. Later the bishop moved to **19...Bd4**, occupying a strong central square and eyeing White’s king side, showing how placing a piece on an active central outpost can increase its influence.
Endgame
In the final phase Black kept the rook on **28...Bf8** and later on **28...Bf8** (after the bishop retreat) to defend the back rank, and the bishop on **29...Bc4** aimed at the long diagonal toward White’s king. This demonstrates the defensive idea of using a bishop to control key squares around the opponent’s king, even when under pressure.
